Recently, I have had several people ask me about vet checks and vaccines ect. I feel like I have to start addressing this although it will not likely bode well with all of the internet "questionnaires" people (in general) pull up on how to pick a breeder/puppy.
1) If covid helped teach me anything, it was that I had to learn to think outside the box even more. Yes, we had elderly that needed special care.....one almost died yet refused to go to the hospital due to the distrust in our medical system. By the grace of God alone, he is still here with us due to unconventional treatments.
2) Many people died due to the "wrong" drugs being given. Even due to toxic drugs being given.
3) Before covid, I saw many things that were very inaccurate and a very high level of distrust (due to the lack of competency in the medical field) was already starting.
Dog Issues:
1) Yes, vaccines kill puppies. I have seen this with my own eyes. More than once it has happened to me. Over the years, I have developed (with Gods help) a system that has greatly reduced the loss. However, it certainly CAN happen and DOES.
a) Parvo also kills puppies. Therefore, since I am unable to completely feed all of my dogs raw food and I do not have good, supportive vets in my area, I DO minimally vaccinate my puppies.
Faulty Medicine:
1) If you ever want to know if a certain chewable or spot on or drug is giving your dog issues, then do a search on it. Look at what THE PEOPLE say is or has happened to their dog.
Bravecto is a popular one I looked up. There are many.
CONCLUSION:
I personally choose not to take animals to the vet unless there is a medical emergency that we can not handle at home.
1) We have picked up parvo from the vet before. (That was amazing)
2) Right after covid, there was a respiratory illness in dogs that was mostly incurable at the time. That HAD been seen by our local vet. I know this because we asked first. That is something that would have wiped out our entire kennel.
3) Many drugs have horrible side effects that are seldom if EVER even mentioned to us when they are given to our fur babies.
4) Am I opposed to medical treatment when needed? No I am not. However, the benefits MUST outweigh the risk. Simple non life threatening illnesses can often be treated safely at home.
a) Deworm your pet yourself using a 3 day treatment of fenbendazole.
b) Order your own puppy shots (excluding rabies) from revival animal.
c) There are many essential oils that repel fleas and ticks.
d) "Cancer step outside the box" is a great read.
e) There are many ways to keep your pets immune system healthier to help prevent "outbreaks" of coccidiosis, giardia and other parasites. There are also non "chemical" options out there.
f) "Diet" is a HUGE contributor of overall health. Not every dog food is created equal. Don't even let me get started on Science and "prescription" diet.
